ulation Week is sponsored by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, and it celebrates professionals who use simulation to improve the safety, effectiveness,and efficiency of healthcare delivery and patient outcomes. Simulation in healthcare encompasses a broad range of modalities including manikins on which students learn surgical procedures and childbirth, standardized patients (actors) who role-play dynamic scenarios such as patient exams and interviews, direct patient care in both in person and virtual settings, team communication, and simulated skill practice all in a safe learning environment. The University of Washington School of Nursing Simulation Center supports student learning in these ways and more.
